Session Information
1. L O C A T I O N
The location for all 2024 River Story Sessions is Pedernales State Park.
You do not need to purchase any passes; I will have them for you when we meet at the Welcome Cabin inside the park. If the gate at the entrance is closed, push the button on the call pad and let them know you have day passes under “Gardella.” Please note there is very little cell phone service in this area.
2. T I M E
We will meet 80 minutes before sunset. The exact time will be emailed to you the week of your session.
3. M A K E U P

4. F L O W E R S
You are welcome to bring a flower crown to our session. I love them and find they bring such a timeless element to the photos.
5. W H A T T O W E A R
Please, please, please wear whites, creams, or neutrals. They will act as natural light reflectors on your face and work so well in the gorgeous landscapes we visit and the timeless film-style edits I create. Soft pastels are also beautiful if you are uncomfortable with white or cream. Remember that we will be getting wet, so it might be a good idea to test your dress in the shower or bathtub to ensure you love how it looks, even when soaked.
For men and boys:
It’s essential to keep it simple. Shorts/pants and no shirt; shorts/pants and a pastel linen shirt; no patterns or logos; suspenders and overalls are always super cute on little ones!
For girls:
The same as women. Some excellent shops are Zara, H+M, and Etsy. Little linen dresses, handknits, and rompers are perfect!
FAQ
Q: Are there bathrooms or places to get ready there?
A: Please be all dressed and ready to go when we meet, as the area has no changing rooms or bathrooms. There is a small bathroom, but it is very often locked.
Q: Should I bring anything?
A: I suggest packing shoes that are easy to walk in, a towel, a dry change of clothes, a bag for your wet clothes, snacks, a water bottle, warm cozy socks, and bug spray. There’s a bit of a walk (almost a mile) to our beautiful spot, so pack lightly.
Q: What happens if it’s raining or if someone is sick?
A: If you are traveling to Austin for your session, I strongly advise you to come for a few days just in case of bad weather or unforeseen hiccups. For everyone’s safety, we do not shoot in severe storms. I always do my best to reschedule, and being here a few days helps so much with this, but if it is not possible, the session will be canceled, and your session fee will be refunded to you in full. I do not reimburse travel expenses. If you need to cancel for any reason, please understand (as outlined in your contract) that your session fee is non-refundable. PLEASE DO NOT come to your session if you are sick or have been exposed to anyone sick, as I am currently caring for my Mother, who is being treated for cancer.
Q: Can I bring someone for support?
A: Absolutely! I ask that you tell me who will be there before the session so that I am prepared and have the correct number of people listed on our reservation.
Q: When will I receive my online proofing gallery?
A: Within one month from your session.
