Just Some Boats

When you sleep on a houseboat in a marina in Newport, RI and you wake up at 4am to watch the full sunrise, but it's too foggy, so you take a barefoot walk snooping around the fishing pier instead...

These images were taken purely for fun, with so much curiosity, and I think that's important to do every once in awhile.

Sweet Hannah

Happy Birthday, sweet girl. We love you and miss you, so very much. It was such a profound honor capturing you during this time of your life, and I will never ever forget it, or you, for as long as I live.

Alana + Joe + 1

We spent the weekend living in a houseboat in Newport, RI and while it was everything beautiful and magical and beyond my wildest dreams (more images of this later), the second I stepped off the boat, I got super sick. Reverse sea sickness is a thing! Who knew!?

But looking at these images with Alana and Joe and their sweet baby is making everything better. Thomas captured them this morning just as Josephine was waking up, and my goodness my heart just glows. I can hear Alana singing to her, I can hear Joe's laughter. I can feel all the love.

We are so incredibly grateful to call these three beautiful humans our dear friends.

Kinga - A Same Night River Story Preview

I wept during this session tonight. Not a few little tears; but full on sobbing. How could I not, witnessing a mama nursing her baby in the waters, or witnessing three generations of women just love on one another unapologetically, or seeing a Papa be so gentle and nurturing with his new daughter?

Motherhood is everything in this world to me, and I am left in awe by tonight's magic.

There is so much ugliness and ego in the world, I won't pretend that's not true. But my goodness there is also so much love and beauty. So much profound, real, down into your bones, make you cry because you just don't know what else to do, beauty.
