Artist Statement

In a time when the lines between humans and computers get blurrier with each passing day, my work stands unapologetically loyal to imperfectly handmade.

My pictures and pottery both leave me covered in mud. Whether I’m wading in rivers with my camera, or spinning berry bowls at my wheel, my art is rooted in an unwavering reverence for the human connection with earth and water.

Growing up in New England in a family of immigrants, I was surrounded by laborers whose hands were always deep black in the creases and filled with endless campfire stories. Summer mornings spent in my Grandmother’s garden, pulling carrots and baking mud pies, finishing the day with hair that smells like tomato plants.

Simpler, slower, times. Roadside farm stands selling just-picked corn. Maple syrup collected one drop at a time. Front porch swings and hopscotch.

I believe this way of life deserves preservation.

“It’s called fishing, not catching,” my Dad always said, on our walks home from the river, “It’s about patience and appreciating the time without the reward.” My too-big galoshes, always flopping against the asphalt, counting the magnolia trees as mile markers.

I hope to create pieces that feel the same. Comforting and love-filled. Nostalgic and timeless.
